Extra Stairlift Warranty Cover from 1st Step Mobility

Stannah is the main name on stairlifts with over 150 years of experience ensuring that you get the best stairlift available on the market. A curved  Stannah Stairlift rail can run on the inside and outside of the curve of the stairs making the best use of available space, leaving loads of room for others to use the staircase. For extra safety, the rail is fitted to the stairs itself and the lift runs on batteries so can still be used in the event of a power cut.

The stairlift can be used by the simple intuitive controls that have been designed for those with less dexterity. They work with the lightest of touches and can be operated using your hand, arm or even wrist.

All new Stannah curved stairlifts are guaranteed for a period of 24 months from the installation date. The guarantee covers you for all mechanical failures through defects in the manufacture of the straight stairlift and 1st Step Mobility try and get to all call-outs on the same working day.

You can own a straight Stannah stairlift for as little as £514.58 per month. 1st Step Mobility also provides reconditioned stairlift so please have a look at our reconditioned range.

Daniel fitted a stair lift for my parents on 10/08/17. I found Daniel to be a warm and reassuring person and someone who readily answered my questions. The installation was efficient and completed in a reasonable amount of time. Based on this experience, I would have no hesitation in recommending 1st Step Mobility. Thank you.

How do stairlifts work?

Stairlifts are made up of three main components: a rail, a carriage, and a seat. The carriage of the stairlift contains the motor which powers the lift up and down the rail or track. The rail fits directly to the steps of the stairs (not the wall), and the stairlift seat simply sits on top of the carriage and has the controls in the arms to send the stairlift up or down. The stairlift comes with two remote controls allowing multiple users to direct the lift both up and down the stairs.

How noisy are stairlifts?
Battery (DC) powered stairlifts runoff around 24 volts powering an electric motor, which makes them quiet and energy-efficient in use. The loudest noise you will hear from your stairlift is a beep to let you know that it is about to start its journey up or down your stairs!.
How long does it take to fit a stairlift in a house?
Most stairlifts can be fitted in a matter of hours with a minimum of fuss. Stairlifts are fitted directly to the steps on the stairs and not the wall which makes the process quick, simple, and clean.
If I decide to have a stairlift, how long will I have to wait to have it fitted?
If you order a straight stairlift, you could be back to having the freedom of your home within a couple of days. If you require a curved stairlift then the rail needs to be made which takes between 14 to 28 days, but installation just like a straight stairlift will only take a couple of hours. However, if there is a particularly urgent need, simply let us know and we will try and speed up the process as best as we can.
What happens to my stairlift during a powercut?
A stairlift runs on batteries, which will automatically charge when not in use, resulting in the stairlift functioning during a power cut for a limited time.

What if I have narrow stairs? Will a stairlift fit?
If your staircase is wider than 600mm (24 inches) it will accommodate a stairlift, please give us a call and we can always come round and check for you.
Can other people still use the stairs if a stairlift is fitted?
Yes. When the stairlift is not in use it can be folded up to allows full access to the stairs for all uses.
What kind of warranty / after-care is available for stairlifts?
1st Step Mobility provides a two years warranty on all new stairlifts and a year on any reconditioned stairlift fitted by ourselves. We try and get to all breakdowns on the same day as we have our own dedicated stairlift engineers. 1st Step Mobility also provides an Extra Warranty Cover and annual servicing on the stairlift to make sure it running correctly.
